Despite Madrid’s dominance, late defensive lapses allowed Benavidez and Garcia to pull goals back for Alavés, but their rally came too late to deny Madrid the win.

“It’s unfortunate how the match ended,” captain Vázquez told Real Madrid TV. “We played brilliantly until the 88th minute, but two moments of lost focus cost us. Despite that, we did a lot of things right and deserved the win.”
